Haryana increases monthly honorarium of Sarpanches and Panches

Chandigarh, Latest Updates: - Haryana Government has increased the honorarium of Sarpanches and Panches. Now Sarpanches and Panches will get  Rs 5,000 and Rs 1,600 as a monthly honorarium respectively. The government has issued a notification in this regard and the increased rates will be applicable from April 1, 2023.

Notice is hereby given that the following draft of rules shall be taken into consideration by the Government on or after the expiry of a period of seven days (July 14, 2023) from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, together with objections or suggestions, if any, which may be received by the Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, from any person with respect to the draft of the rules before the expiry of the period so specified.

At present, Sarpanches and Panches get an honorarium of Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000 per month respectively. The Sarpanches and Panches had placed a demand before the Chief Minister to increase the honorarium.  Fulfilling the same, the honorarium has been increased.

The government has amended the Haryana Panchayati Raj Finance, Budget, Accounts, Audit, Taxation and Works Rules, 1995 to increase the honorarium of Sarpanches and Panches. These rules may be called the Haryana Panchayati Raj Finance, Budget, Accounts, Audit, Taxation and Works (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
