Haryana State Election Commission issues notification for general elections of 5 Gram Panchayats in 3 districts

Chandigarh, July 21 - Haryana State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh, stated that the election schedule for the conduct of general elections of Panches and Sarpanches of Gram Panchayat Ajampur, Block Naraingarh, District Ambala; Gram Panchayat Chabri, Block Jind, District Jind; Gram Panchayat Bhartana, Block Pillukhera, Gram Panchayat Rojkhera, Block Uchana, District Jind and Gram Panchayat Juan-1, Block Sonipat, District Sonipat has been issued.

Giving more information in this regard, Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that as per the election schedule, nomination papers shall be presented from July 28, 2023 to August 3, 2023. The polling for these elections shall be held on August 13, 2023. Nomination form and format of affidavits to be enclosed with the nomination are available on State Election Commissions website i.e.(wwwsecharyana gov in), he added.

Haryana State Election Commissioner stated that the Model Code of Conduct came into force from July 20, 2023 in respect of Panchayati Raj Institutions where the poll is to be held on August 13, 2023. No officer/official connected with the election work in these institutions shall be transferred from his/her present place of posting till the completion of election process, he added.

He said that the State Election Commission has updated the voters lists of Panchayati Raj Institutions on the basis of Haryana Vidhan Sabha electoral rolls published by the Election Commission of India on January 5, 2023.

However, if any person whose name is not included in the ward wise voters list of Panchayati Raj Institution concerned, but his/her name exists in the relevant part of the electoral roll of the State Legislative Assembly constituency, he/she may apply (in Form 1A) to the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (Panchayat) for inclusion of his/her name in the voters list of Panchayati Raj Institution till the first date of filing of nomination.

No amendment, transposition or deletion of any entry in the voters list shall be made and no direction for inclusion of a name in the voters list of any ward shall be given, after the first date for filing of nominations for an election in that Panchayati Raj Institution, he added.

While elaborating on the Police Deployment, he said that proper arrangements are being made for conduct of elections in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner. Adequate police force shall be deployed to maintain law and order at the polling stations and extra police force will be provided in sensitive and hyper sensitive areas.

Sh. Singh further appealed to the voters to participate in these elections in a big way to elect their representatives without any bias of caste/religion and without any fear or favour for strengthening democracy at the grass root level.
